The men's golf team won first place this weekend at their two-day home meet, The Viking Classic, against 14 other colleges, despite the windy weather conditions the Vikings pulled off a win.

The Vikings beat Waldorf College by eight strokes to take first place. The team finished with a total score of 591, 300 on Saturday and 291 on Sunday.

Michael Nedved, business administration senior, lead the team with a score of 71-73 and finishing the weekend tied for third place overall. Manske was recently named Midwest Collegiate Conference Men's Golfer of the Week and won first place at the Peak's Classic tournament and is currently golfing in the number one spot for the Vikings.

"The course was the best golf course we've played on so far this year," he said.

The Vikings finished the weekend with five players placing in the top twenty golfers. The men's team play next at Iowa City in the 13 MCC Championships on October 13 and 14.

The women's golf team placed sixth at the Mount Mercy Mustang Four Ball Classic on September 27 at Hunters Ridge Golf Course in Marion.

Molly Engleman, nursing freshman, said, " It wasn't a great trip, but it wasn't bad. The course was bad. There were a lot of team hazards but the weather was nice."

Next for the women's team is the Midwest Collegiate Conference Championships hosted by Clarke College in Peosta on October 12.
