Homecoming and Studenterfest activities will be held throughout the days of October 3, 4 and 5 on Grand View campus. These activities include several Grand View athletic events, alumni events, a bonfire, parade, picnic and a dance.

Starting at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, October 3, a continental breakfast will be in the Humphrey Center, Rodholm room. Soon after there will be three sessions at 9 a.m., 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. where alumni will get the chance to catch up with old friends. The first two sessions will be held in the Humphrey center, Rodholm room and the third session in the Rasmussen Center, room 120. In between the sessions from 11:45 p.m. and 1:15 p.m. lunch will be provided at Knudsen dining hall.

The first athletic event of Homecoming will be the Cross Country Viking Invitational. This will begin at 5 p.m. on Friday, October 3, at Ewing Park. Following the meet will be the second annual float building contest lasting until 2 a.m. on Saturday outside of the student center on Boyd Street. Students entered get the chance to win $1000 for the best float.

After the float building contest ends, the bonfire will start at 9 p.m. in the Nielson parking lot. During the bonfire, each fall athletic team will be recognized and the Homecoming King and Queen will be announced.

To start off Saturday the annual Grand View Viking 5k will take place. Registration and check-in will be from 7-8 a.m. with the race following soon after. Check-in will be in the Historic hall in the Humphrey Center with the race beginning outside of it. The Viking 5k welcomes all ages and usually consists of 200 runners and walkers each year. This college tradition is family-oriented and welcomes anyone looking for a good time.

The second annual parade will start at 9:30 a.m. after the race and will proceed throughout the Grand View neighborhood. The line up begins at 9 a.m. outside the Viking house and the winner of the float building contents will be chosen afterwards.

The second team to participate in Homecoming activities will be baseball. They have a scrimmage at 10 a.m. at Lurhs Athletic Complex. From 10:30 a.m. to noon will be the Rasmussen Open House, which will host a photo exhibit from James Wood Photography. Reunions from the art, education, psychology and sociology department, tours and fun and games for kids, including the first 200 receiving Grand View coloring book will also take place. The nursing reunion luncheon will be held from 11:30 to 1:30 at the Charles S. Johnson Wellness Center, second floor.

For lunch, Homecoming Picnic is from noon to 2 p.m. in the Rasmussen Center.

The first Football Homecoming game will happen at 1 p.m. at Williams Stadium East High School. The bus will leave an hour before the game and will shuttle back to campus for one half hour after the game.

Drey Porter, health promotion junior, said, "I think it's going to be great because it's the first homecoming for football in history and a lot of people will participate. There are a lot of events leading up to the game to get the school involved".

Last for the events scheduled on Saturday consist of a Homecoming dance from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the Polk Country Convention office. The theme for the event is the same as last years being "Red Rocks." Shuttles will be provided outside of the student center.

Brett Opdahl, sports management sophomore, said, "I'm excited for the dance. I heard it was a lot of fun in the last couple of years and with the new football people, it should still be fun."

Following Saturday's events will be an Aebleskine Breakfast from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and a worship service at 10 a.m. at Luther Memorial Church.
