Breathaliyzers will not be present at dance

Student Life decided against the use of breathalyzers this year for homecoming after they thought of several options to prevent students from drinking over the limit. Jay Prescott, vice president for student affairs, said they are not using breathalyzers because he expects students of-age to be able to drink responsibly and socialize and have a good time in a respectful and safe manner.

Good turnout for homecoming game

The Vikings had their moments, but could not sustain drives offensively falling 34-13 to Kentucky Wesleyan on homecoming at Williams Stadium. An announced crowd of 1,827 cheered as junior quarterback Brad Schmit found sophomore receiver Brett Opdahl open in the front of the end zone on third and goal from the 12-yard line with 46 seconds left in the first half.

Sidewalk painting kicks off Homecoming week

Over 60 people attended the Viking Council's annual street painting Sunday, Sept. 28 to help homecoming week start off right. The event began at 2 p.m. in front of the student Suites and Viking Council provided paint, music and free pop and water to those participating.

Viking Men take home first place in Viking Classic

The men's golf team won first place this weekend at their two-day home meet, The Viking Classic, against 14 other colleges, despite the windy weather conditions the Vikings pulled off a win. The Vikings beat Waldorf College by eight strokes to take first place.

Midnight Brunch offered as alternative closure to Homecoming celebrations

All are welcomed to the Midnight Brunch, 11:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 4, in the Knudsen Dining Hall, as an alternative choice to drinking Homecoming night. While eating, students can watch episodes of the sitcom, the Office, on a big screen TV.

Red rocks again...

Homecoming and Studenterfest activities will be held throughout the days of October 3, 4 and 5 on Grand View campus. These activities include several Grand View athletic events, alumni events, a bonfire, parade, picnic and a dance. Starting at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, October 3, a continental breakfast will be in the Humphrey Center, Rodholm room.

DES MOINES- I really had a lot to do Tuesday. I still have at least four loads of laundry to do. But somehow I got convinced into spending the day with Editor-in-Chief Molly Hottle. So after a wonderful home cooked meal, Miss Hottle and I ventured out into the city to take photos of the traffic streaking by on Interstate 235.
